Clifton Hall is one of Barbados’ oldest and grandest great houses. Set in ample gardens, Clifton Hall joins a medieval-type structure to a later, Georgian mansion. Its gracious Palladian double entrance staircase, arcaded gallery, and spacious reception rooms belie a dark mystery upstairs, where shades of Jane Eyre abide. This treasure was restored by its present owners who have stylishly transformed the house for modern living, yet retained much of its historical character.
